Recognition Lunch – 2012 Honorees

The Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce’s 36th annual Recognition Lunch was Wednesday, April 25th at the Winnetka Community House. The annual lunch recognized Winnetka residents, community leaders, business members and area volunteers. There was networking, a fashion show, awards and a silent auction.

Northfield Community Resources

Northfield is the best of worlds, a thriving, desirable suburb and a village with hometown charm. Incorporated in 1926 and located 20 miles from the heart of Chicago’s loop. With a population of approximately 5,700 attracts those looking for a small-town way of life near large city.

Winnetka Community Resources

The Village of Winnetka features tree-lined streets, sandy beaches, renowned schools, outstanding parks, quality recreational facilities, a centralized community house, local non-profit organizations, and numerous houses of worship. The Village of Winnetka features four distinct shopping districts: Hubbard Woods, East Elm, West Elm and Indian Hill. As its name suggests Winnetka is truly a “beautiful land.”

Northfield Government

The Village of Northfield is a home rule municipality governed by a Village president and six trustees (the “Village Board”). The President of the Board of Trustees is elected for a four year term and serves as the chief elected official of the Village and presides at all Board of Trustees meetings and ceremonial occasions.

Village of Winnetka

Winnetka has a Council-Manager form of government. Council meetings are held in the Village Hall Council Chamber at 7:30 in the evening on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Agendas are available at the library or on this web site. A portion of every council meeting is set aside to hear comments from Winnetka residents regarding any Village issue.
