The Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce represents and promotes the businesses of two vibrant North Shore Communities.

Winnetka, Illinois

The Village of Winnetka features tree-lined streets, sandy beaches, renowned schools, outstanding parks, quality recreational facilities, a centralized community house, local nonprofit organizations and numerous houses of worship. The Village of Winnetka features four distinct shopping districts. Hubbard Woods, East Elm, West Elm and Indian Hill. As its name suggests, Winnetka is truly “beautiful land”.

Named “one of the best places” to live by CNN Money, Winnetka is located 20 miles north of Chicago and is accessible from the Eden’s Expressway. (I-94) There are three Metra stations that serve the village.

Charming Winnetka boasts numerous interesting shops, restaurants, specialty merchants and businesses. Winnetka businesses offer superlative customer service and an interesting and unique array of products and services. Retails stores and restaurants in Winnetka are easily accessible, shoppers find it easy to stop into a store and pick up a few things and there are many visitors from outside the area that make Winnetka a destination for a day of fun. There is no place like Winnetka for leisure activities, shopping and dining.

Economic Development

Northfield, Illinois

Sharing the same zip code as Winnetka, Northfield is the best of worlds: a thriving, desirable suburb and a village with hometown charm. The village, incorporated in 1926, is located 20 miles from the heart of Chicago’s loop. With a population of approximately 5,700, Northfield attracts those looking for a small-town way of life near a large city. When the village was incorporated, a commitment was made to protect open spaces. This commitment continues today as the village successfully balances that prized open space with commercial development. Northfield has more than 30 acres of open parkland that includes a bird sanctuary. The village is one of the few suburbs that issues licenses for keeping horses. The Village of Northfield is a warm, family orientated community with scenic properties, an outstanding school system and a wonderful mix of businesses. The Eden’s Expressway (I-94) is east of Northfield and the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) is less than four miles west of Northfield.

Northfield is proud to be the world headquarters of companies such as Stepan Company and Medline. Unique specialty stores create a strong customer base in Northfield’s retail business district. Many outstanding shops in Northfield offer: antiques, specialty gifts, home accessories, jewelry, women’s and children’s clothing and sporting goods. Wonderful dining options are also in Northfield. Residents and non-residents alike can choose from sophisticated fine dining, charming cafes, shops with specialty foods and fun family restaurants.
